Jessica (Pray) Patel, soprano
Jessica is a freelance opera singer based in Iowa City. She earned a Master of Music in Voice (Opera) from the Yale School of Music in May 2017, where she studied with Doris Yarick-Cross, and was the 2017 winner of the David L. Kasdon Memorial Prize. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Ethics and Public Policy and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Iowa in 2015, where she studied with Dr. Rachel Joselson.
Jessica has been noted for her "exquisite control and warm vocal timbre" in Faure's Requiem by the Jacksonville News, and for her "indomitable spirit" and "sweet, clear quality" in Candide by The Day. Jessica has recently performed with the Jacksonville Symphony, Eastern Connecticut Symphony, Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre, Yale Symphony and Philharmonia Orchestras, Orchestra Iowa, and at Carnegie Hall.
Upcoming performances include the role of Zerlina in Don Giovanni with the Jacksonville Symphony and Polly in The Threepenny Opera with Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre.
